Roses are a symbol of eternity in many cultures, with various regional preservation techniques. In this work, the notion carries through to our incessant immortalization via digital capture and upload. The roses were not watered during the course of the exhibition, and they eventually faded and died. The video loop never lost fidelity. Is digital preservation possible or valuable? Is it cynical? Or narcissistic? What do we find beautiful? The work isn’t about life and death, but something in between - digital limbo.
